multimedia communicator . business developer . community builder
Hi! I’m Natasha Marar, a passionate professional based in Windsor, Ontario. I spent seven years in multimedia journalism before shifting gears to support entrepreneurs as a business advisor with the WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation. My writing and photography has appeared in print and online for various Canadian publications and I formerly served as publisher and editor of The Urbanite, an independent biweekly newspaper that provided investigative coverage and insightful commentary on news, arts and culture in Windsor and Metro Detroit. For two years I also worked as editor-in-chief of The Lance weekly newspaper.
I’m a staunch supporter of my community, and have actively promoted the Windsor-Essex region as a draw for tourism and place to build a career and business. I’ve advocated for youth retention and attraction in the region as a founding director of Young Professionals Windsor and committee member for the non-profit youth initiative YKNOT Windsor-Essex. I hold a master of arts degree in journalism and have completed post-secondary studies in communications, political science and web development.
